BNB Chain developers issued a mandatory update notice on April 12 for all node operators on the network, a critical step before the planned Osaka/Mendel hard fork on April 28.
"Node operators must update their software to the latest version before the hard fork to ensure compatibility with the upgraded network," the BNB Chain developers stated in a notice on their official X account.
The Osaka/Mendel hard fork is a significant technical upgrade for the BNB Chain. While specific details of the improvements are pending, such hard forks typically aim to enhance network performance, security, and functionality. This could involve improvements to transaction processing speeds or the introduction of new features for developers.
The upgrade presents both opportunities and risks for the BNB ecosystem. A successful hard fork could attract more users and developers, potentially boosting the value of the BNB token. However, any technical complications during the upgrade process could result in short-term network instability or service disruptions. The deadline for the mandatory update is April 28.
